Thunder Hockey Lose Twice in OT vs Upstart RDC

Posted on: Oct 21, 2013

The Concordia Thunder Hockey team suffered two overtime losses in ACAC weekend action against the Kings from Red Deer College. The tough losses were made even more difficult to swallow because of a self-confessed coaching error on the part of Thunder Head Coach Dan Peacocke.  Coach Peacocke inadvertently played a suspended player in Friday night's game with the result being that the game is forfeited and the single point for the OT loss, taken away.   The positive news from the weekend is that the Thunder battled the surprising upstart RDC Kings who are rejoining the league after a 9 year hiatus.  The Thunder fought the Kings – who currently sit in a tie for first place in the league – right down to the bitter end in both games.  With a couple less mistakes, a couple more saves and/or a couple more finishes around the net, the Thunder could have walked away with two victories and been sitting at the top of the leader board themselves.   "This of course means that our boys are right in the thick of things.  A solid week of practice with a little more attention to detail should leave the team in very good shape to take on the Portage Voyageurs this coming weekend," enthused Coach Peacocke.
The Thunder will travel to Lac La Biche on Friday, October 25th and then host the Voyageurs back home on the 26th at Glengarry Arena.  The puck drops at 8:15 PM.Mike Wilson
