Thunder Men’s Soccer Finish Out Season

Posted on: Oct 20, 2014

The story of the Thunder's season was an inability to keep the ball out of the back of their net. "Truth hurts and at no time was it more painful than this past Saturday at home," stated first year Associate Coach Ian Skitch. "Keyano College are deserving first place finishers after scoring 6 unanswered goals to end the Thunder's chances of playoff soccer. I think everyone was surprised at the result including Keyano. Not in a million years do I think they thought it would be this easy."  It didn't start out that way either. After a couple of hairy moments early in the game at the back, the Thunder scored on a break that was called back for offside. Moments later the Thunder went ahead for real off of a rehearsed set play from the corner. But things quickly started to go the visitor's way when they equalized within 2 minutes, then went ahead for good not long after on a fantastic free kick. It was 3-1 at the break. Despite 2nd half changes the Thunder simply had no answers.
"(This is) not the way our 2 Seniors wanted to finish their careers, but that's the reality of life," concluded Skitch. The entire Thunder squad wishes graduates Garnet Coria and Cody Hogberg all the best in their future aspirations. You will always be welcome home!
