Thunder Hockey Manage Single Point Against Portage

Posted on: Oct 19, 2015

This weekend the Concordia Thunder Hockey team battled the Portage Voyageurs in a pair of closely contested games. Friday night in front of a big crowd, the Thunder gave up a late power play goal to lose 4 to 3. The highlight of the game was Lac La Biche product Adam Moghrabi scoring his first ACAC goal in his first game in front of friends and family. Moghrabi would go on to score another goal later in the game and was named the Player of the Game for the Thunder.
Saturday night was again a low scoring affair. A pair of goals from first year D-men Dave Randall and Conner Dea gave the Thunder the 2 to 1 lead heading into the final frame. An early goal in the third tied the game for Portage and due to the great penalty killing by the Thunder helped get the game to OT. Despite many chances in the extra frame the Thunder were unable to solve the Portage goalie and with 4 seconds left the Voyageurs were able to sneak a puck past Rhys Hadfield for the 3 to 2 win. The Thunder still came away with a point and will look to find more success next weekend against the Augustana Vikings.
