Thunder Hockey Drop Two to First Place NAIT
Posted on: Feb 13, 2017This weekend the Thunder played a pair of games against the top ranked NAIT Ooks. Friday night at NAIT, the Thunder played a great first period and found a way to grab a 1 – 0 lead on a big goal by Brady Bakke. However the Ooks came out strong in the second period and despite Patrick Carlin's first ACAC goal, the Thunder trailed 4 to 2. The third period was fast paced and the Thunder had many chances to pull closer to the Ooks but at the end of the night the Thunder fell 5 to 2.
Saturday night at home saw the Thunder get off to a tough start with the Ooks scoring two goals in the first 3 minutes. Brady Bakke continued his hot streak with another goal late in the period but the Thunder trailed 4 to 1. In the second period the Thunder got a power play goal from Rory Davidson and a shorthanded goal from Colin Minardi but entered the third trailing 6 to 3. In the third period the Thunder ran out of gas and the game ended up as a 9 to 3 win for the 1st place Ooks.
The Thunder now enter a bye week at exactly the right time with multiple nagging injuries throughout the roster. Following the bye week the Thunder will face the RDC Kings to close out the regular season.
