Thunder Badminton Show Well in ACAC Tourney #2

This past weekend the Thunder Badminton team competed in the 2nd ACAC Tournament of the year at King’s University. Overall the Thunder had great results again finishing in 2nd place as a combined team behind the NAIT Ooks. In the individual events it was Takeisha Wang with the best showings for the team, finishing in 2nd place in the Women’s Doubles event with veteran partner Rachael Smillie. In the Mixed Doubles division it was Takeisha again taking 2nd place with 1st year player Luc-Ly Nguyen at her side. Rachael Smillie finished 4th in Women’s Singles and Kassidy Turcotte won the consolation side for Women’s Singles. The team of Luc-Ly Nguyen and Calvin Siu won the Men’s Doubles consolation side as well. Amanda Cao/Teisha Ouellette finished 3rd in Women’s Doubles.
“Overall it was a great team effort and we are looking forward to hosting the 3rd ACAC tourney of the year in a couple weeks,” enthused Head Coach Kevin MacAlpine. The Thunder will indeed host Tourney #3 on Sunday, February 5th at the RKAC.
