Preseason Opens for Thunder Men’s BasketballPosted on: Sep 23, 2013
The Concordia Thunder Men's Basketball team kicked off the 2013-14 pre-season this past weekend with match ups against the Augustana Vikings and MacEwan Griffins. The Thunder would wind up on the losing end of both contests but were able to take away a number of positives from the weekend. “With a couple of starters still on the mend, this weekend was a great opportunity for us to get some young players some minutes and see how their development is coming along. Friday night against Augustana we learned the level of intensity that is going to be required from us this season and on Saturday we brought that level of intensity but learned how quickly a large lead can evaporate when we have defensive breakdowns and become stagnant and predictable on offense,” stated Coach Reagan Wood. “Overall though I am pleased with what we are going to carry forward from this weekend. It’s always easier to learn and teach following a loss.”
This week the Thunder will welcome CUC-Lacombe to the Ralph King Athletic Centre for a Thursday night exhibition match and on Saturday they will take on Thunder Alumni. Thursday will be a 7:15 tip and Saturday’s alumni event will get under way at 8pm.
