This year’s Black History Month (BHM) events are presented by the CUE Black Students’ Association (CBSA). Follow the CBSA on Instagram @CUE_BSA to keep up with the month’s events and other CBSA news.
When: February 5 @4:30 pm
Where: Design thinking space (AW207)
Get together with volunteers to mix and mingle and to learn more about Black History Month celebrations. The event is set up for volunteers, but is not exclusive. Pizza and refreshments will be provided.
CBSA volunteers are essential for the smooth running of bigger events such as Afrocafé & BHM Gala, as these events required a lot of coordination and set up. As a CBSA volunteer, your main role is assisting in setup and breakdown as well as assisting vendor booths. You are also the first to know about CBSA events, free entry to ticketed events, and a discount on CBSA merchandise.
If you are interested in volunteering for the CBSA please email them at: bsa@student.concordia.ab.ca
When: February 7 from noon-3 p.m.
Where: Tegler Student Centre
Experience a showcase of Black and Carribean products and services offered in our community, and get a taste of African culture and food. Hear from community leaders, alumni, and vendors, and take in performances during the event.
All Afro-Caribbean students, faculty, and members of staff are encouraged to wear their Afro-Caribbean wear (showup and showout).
When: February 14 @ 4 p.m.
Where: Tegler Student Centre & Design Thinking Space (AW207)
In this two-parter event, start your evening in Tegler with an interactive paint night where you will be recreating Afro-Sudanese paintings before taking part in a fun and lighthearted speed-dating session in the Design Thinking Space where you will connect with new people.
When: March 1 @9pm-2am
