EDMONTON, AB – Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) is pleased to welcome two acclaimed international guest artists from the University of Minho in Portugal: Dr. Vítor Hugo Ferreira de Matos and Dr. Ângelo Miguel Quaresma Gomes Martingo.

During their visit, the duo will participate in a collaborative exchange with CUE’s Music Department, including piano and chamber music masterclasses and culminating in two public performances showcasing their exceptional artistry.

Meet the Visiting Artists

Vítor Hugo Ferreira de Matos is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Music Department at the University of Minho, as well as the Chief Conductor of the Orquestra de Guimarães. An accomplished clarinetist, he has performed extensively across Europe and premiered numerous contemporary works. He holds a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from the Katarina Gurska School of Music (Madrid) and a PhD in Musicology and Performance from the University of Évora.

Ângelo Martingo is an Associate Professor at the University of Minho, where he teaches Piano and Performance Studies Research. He maintains an active international career as a soloist and chamber musician alongside a prolific research portfolio, regularly organizing and leading international musicology conferences.
