Men’s Volleyball Get Second Win of the Year to Close Out the Season

Posted on: Feb 22, 2016

The Thunder Men's Volleyball team had to settle for a weekend split after two hard fought, 5-set matches Friday and Saturday.  Playing a pair of home games against the visiting Grande Prairie Wolves, the Thunder hit the court of a vengeance on Friday night. Graduating 5th year Setter – and team Captain – Alex Ingstrup was the star of the show, putting on two excellent setting performances in his final weekend as a member of the team. In a nearly two hour match, the Thunder battled back after a first set loss that went to extra points to eventually take the match 3-2 (24-26, 25-16, 29-27, 22-25 and 15-10).   On Saturday afternoon, the Thunder once again pushed the Wolves to a fifth set, after dropping the first two sets and then roaring back with two set victories of their own.  Unfortunately in the end, it was the Wolves who would own the fifth set on this day, handing the Thunder a defeat in their final match of the season (25-17, 25-18, 22-25, 22-25 and 15-7).  "Hunter Scott had his most efficient performance as a member of the team and we look forward to more of those next year," stated Coach Lucas Jacobson. "Although the record was improved this year we as a group left a few wins on the table. We all look forward to a good off season and getting back at it in September and making a playoff run."
