Men’s Soccer in Tough on Northern Road Trip
Posted on: Sep 21, 2015The Thunder Men's Soccer team travelled up to Ft. McMurray this past weekend to face the nationally ranked Keyano College Huskies. "Although score lines are certainly a measurement they don't tell the whole story," opened Thunder Head Coach Ian Skitch. (The Thunder) put in a solid effort on Saturday and were just a goal away until gambling for a late equalizer. "We followed it up with our best 45 minutes of the past 2 seasons in the first half on Sunday. We were tight and resolute with a 2-way game. The demons of yesteryear caught up with us in the second however as we conceded sloppily and early, falling into a 2-0 hole." A late game push brought more woe to the Thunder but the work rate and attitude were immense. "If we can find a way to deal with pressure and controversy, we might actually become a good team before the season is out," concluded Coach Skitch.
The Thunder will now get a chance to regroup as they go into a bye week. Their next action will be against the Augustana Vikings on October 3 and 4 with the home game going at 2 PM on the 4th on the pitch at Concordia.
