Concordia University of Edmonton respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional gathering place for diverse Indigenous people, including the Cree, Blackfoot, Metis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway/Saltueaux/Anishinaable, Inuit, and many others whose histories, languages and cultures continue to influence our vibrant community.
Concordia Talks and the Indigenous Student Council present an Indigenous Welcome Ceremony on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:30PM in the East Green Space (between HAC and the Library).
Elder Francis Whiskeyjack will lead the Pipe Ceremony, followed by a feast of berries and bannock, compliments of the Indigenous Student Council. Women are asked to wear long skirts, and are unable to participate if on their moon time cycle, but may observe the ceremony. All participants are asked to refrain from drugs or alcohol prior to the ceremony.
