CUE Launches 100th Anniversary Website and Celebrations

Posted on: Mar 17, 2021

Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) is celebrating its 100th anniversary as a gathering place for scholars in Edmonton, and its evolution into a leading small university that attracts students from around the world who are looking to make a difference and be leaders in the community.

“Our centennial is a time to reflect on the path, and the people, who have helped shape the academic institution and community that we are today,” said Dr. Tim Loreman, President and Vice-Chancellor. “We have come a long way—from humble beginnings, we have evolved into a place that welcomes the world, collaborates on innovative research projects, and drives positive change. We are entering our second century with confidence as we strive to fulfill our promise of being Canada’s pre-eminent small university.”

CUE was founded as Concordia College by Lutherans from the American-based Missouri Synod and has evolved into a secular post-secondary institution that offers an exceptional learning environment, world-class research centres and facilities, and a premier student experience. Over the coming months, we are planning several events and activities; however, we are committed to prioritizing the health and safety of our community, and we are working closely with public health officials to ensure we are aligned with guidelines and restrictions.

Today, we are proud to launch our CUE 100 website, which showcases photos and stories from our first century. We are also in the process of launching a book and a video that will be available in the near future.
