Concordia Senior Delegation signs Important Agreements in ChinaPosted on: Sep 7, 2016
Concordia’s outreach to and cooperation with Chinese institutions are being deepened after the first agreements were signed in 2012. Concordia has created a Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS), housed in the International Office, under the leadership of Dr. Xinxin Fang. This Centre will eventually offer studies in Chinese language and culture while providing continuing education for teachers of Chinese language in Alberta and Canada.
In view of these developments, Concordia’s President Dr. Gerald Krispin, along with Vice President Academic and Provost Dr. Tim Loreman, and International Officer Dr. Xinxin Fang, visited China last week and signed important agreements. A student exchange agreement was signed with new partner Southwest University, in Chongqing, and a visit to partner Capital Normal University, Beijing, deepened our ties and presented some interesting collaborative opportunities.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with HANBAN (Office of Chinese Language Council International, affiliated with Chinese Ministry of Education). Also, the delegation did meet with Alberta Beijing office, in view of securing support for the continuing education of Alberta’s teachers of Chinese language. The MOU was signed by Mme. Xu Lin, whom president Krispin met last September in Beijing. The official launch of Concordia’s Centre for Chinese Studies will be September 29th in the afternoon in Tegler. The program is as follows:
2:15 pm – 3:45 pm @ T104, Panel Discussion on:
Qilu Normal University invited guests: Innovations in Teacher Education: A Perspective from China.
