Concordia School of Music – Christmas Concert

Posted on: Nov 15, 2013

Cradle My Heart

Sunday December 1, 2013 – 3 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church

Concordia’s Concert Choir welcomes the Christmas season with its seasonal concert: Cradle My Heart. This performance – full of choral music from various composers and eras– is inspired by Henry Van Dyke’s short story A Dream Story: The Christmas Angel, and will feature the newly written carol: Cradle Our Heart.

Created in collaboration between Concordia professors Dr. Joy Berg and Dr. Neil Querengesser, Cradle Our Heart recently won first place at the Amadeus Choir Carol competition held in Toronto.

“I asked Neil to write a Christmas text that I could write music to. The initial goal was to try to integrate several of our departments into our Christmas concert,” said Dr. Joy Berg (Professor of Music). “He came up with three lovely verses that are quiet, gentle and have depth. From there, a lullaby-type melody was set.”

Tickets are $15 for Adults and $12 for Students and Seniors and are available at Tix on the Square (tixonthesquare.ca or 780.420.1757), Concordia Student Accounts or at the door. Special Family Admission: $40 (available at the door only).
