Concordia Hosts the Team Canada Women’s Deaf Volleyball Team

Posted on: Dec 21, 2016

This past weekend the Team Canada Women's Deaf Volleyball squad traveled from across Canada to train in Edmonton and play two matches against the Concordia Thunder Women's Volleyball team. This was a great opportunity for both teams to play before the Christmas break and work on some skill development for all players.
In Friday's match, the Thunder played some great side out volleyball and with some strong backrow play by everyone, won in four sets with scores of 25-21, 25-20, 20-25 and 25-21. In Saturday's match, both teams played some exciting rallies and pushed each other to compete but in the end the Thunder prevailed in four sets with scores of 25-15, 18-25, 25-18 and 25-20.
Head Coach Trever Turner had this to say on the weekend's event: "Overall we played well considering the ladies had finals during this time and we have not trained over the past couple of weeks. It was a great opportunity to get some of the ladies in a match situation that have not played that much in the first half and they all did a great job on the court. The important outcome of this weekend was to promote the game of volleyball and get to meet athletes from across Canada and make them feel welcome at our school and city."
Well done Thunder!!
