Active Shooter Response Drill

Posted on: Oct 18, 2016

There will be an Active Shooter Response drill on campus October 9, 2018 sometime between 11:30am and 1:30pm. This drill will involve an actor walking around with a toy pistol, yelling “bang” to simulate the actions of an active shooter. Please read the email which has been sent to all Faculty, Staff and Students for further information and to prepare yourself ahead of time.

You can Opt Out of the drill

While the drill is being conducted in a respectful way, some people may find it stressful. This drill is optional. If you find you are overwhelmed at any time and you want to ‘opt out’ you may go to CS207, The Design Thinking Space which on the top floor of the Centre for Science Research and Innovation which has been set aside for this purpose. A Counsellor will be in available CS207 from 11:30am-1:30pm.

The focus of the drill is on how we best respond to this kind of threat; considering your options ahead of time allows you to make the best decision in a period of high stress.
