Globalink Research Internship – 2021 competition is now open

The call for faculty proposals for the summer of 2021 is now open. The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive student internship that allows researchers to recruit students of excellence for their projects during 12 weeks in the summer. Internships can be on a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences
Professors can submit projects on https://globalink.mitacs.ca/ until June 10, 2020, at 1 p.m. PT. If you are interested in submitting a project, please contact the Office of Research Services. We encourage faculty members to submit more than one project to the database, to increase their chances of successfully recruiting students.

What is a Globalink Research Internship?
The Globalink Research Internship is a highly competitive initiative that attracts talented researchers to Canada. Each year, interns from select Mitacs partner countries come to Canada for 12 weeks from May to October to undertake research projects at Canadian universities. The objective of the Globalink Research Internship is to build a bridge between Canada and emerging international research talent.
What does the Globalink Research Internship offer to interns?
Globalink Research Interns receive:
- A matched project with a Canadian professor and university, based on your research interests, skills and expertise
- Round-trip airfare to Canada (amount varies depending on country of origin)
- Transportation from airport in Canada to accommodations
- Stipend for housing (amount varies depending on country of origin)
- Health insurance
- Stipend towards student enrollment fees up to a maximum of $300
- Stipend for food and incidentals (amount varies depending on country of origin)
- Support from student mentors on campus in Canada
- Registration for industry events and professional development courses
- Globalink Research Internship certificate of completion
Details of the 2021 call
Mitacs recognizes that submitting a project can be difficult in light of COVID-19. As a result, they are extending the call for Globalink projects by two weeks. The deadline for project submissions is now June 10, 2020, at 1 p.m. PT. If you have questions or experience technical difficulties, contact helpdesk@mitacs.ca.
The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive initiative for international undergraduates from the following countries and regions: Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong SAR, India, Mexico, Tunisia, United Kingdom, USA, and Ukraine. From May to October of each year, top-ranked applicants participate in a 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.

Globalink Research Internship alumni interested in returning to Canada for graduate studies are eligible for the Globalink Graduate Fellowship.
