First Win Still Eludes Thunder Men’s Volleyball
Posted on: Jan 19, 2015Despite playing side-out volleyball for the second week in a row, the Thunder Men's Volleyball team has yet to crack the goose egg in the win column. On Friday night at home, the team put in another high-spirited performance but found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 decision, with set scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-17. Player of the Game honours went to 3rd year Middle Connor Reeves. On Saturday, the Thunder put in yet another 'close but no cigar' performance, winning one set outright on the way to a 3-1 loss (25-17, 25-18, 22-25 and 25-13). "It was another hard fought weekend by the boys but unfortunately, we couldn't pull out the wins." lamented Thunder Head Coach Shamus Dowler. "We were led this weekend by great performances from Nick Dove and rookie Setter Damien Leroy coming off the bench Saturday. It was good to see the battle; the offense didn't come as easy as last weekend but they fought hard to try and turn it around."
The Thunder's next test will be this coming Friday when they travel to Camrose to take on the first place Augustana Vikings. The return match will go Saturday evening at the Ralph King Athletic Centre.
