The Concordia Symphony Orchestra Presents: Kaleidoscope

Posted on: Oct 26, 2014

Sunday, November 2 – 2 p.m. – Robert Tegler Student Centre

The Concordia Symphony Orchestra (CSO) opens its 2014-15 season with Kaleidoscope – a concert of orchestral work inspired by changing patterns and vibrant colours.

Conductor David Hoyt will lead the CSO in three works. The first is is Pierre Mercure’s Kaleidoscope, which was the inspiration for this concert’s theme.

For the second work, the CSO is honoured to welcome two of Alberta’s finest pianists – Michael Massey and Janet Scott Hoyt – to accompany the orchestra for Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos. This concerto interjects Indonesian gamelan, French café-concert, and classical music.

The last piece of the afternoon – Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 in D Major – will bathe the audience in warmth and light.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students/seniors, and are available at tixonthesquare.ca, Concordia Student Accounts, or at the door. Special Family Admission – $40 – is available at the door only.
