Welcome to Concordia, Dr. Stephen Portillo!

Born and raised in Edmonton, Dr. Portillo obtained his BSc in Astrophysics from the University of Alberta. He then obtained his PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics at Harvard University and was most recently a DIRAC Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Washington. His research applies advances in statistics and machine learning to enable more science to be done with astronomical data sets. Dr. Portillo is passionate about sharing science through teaching and outreach and is looking forward to joining the faculty at Concordia!
