Welcome to Concordia, Dr. Jenna Congdon!

Posted on: Aug 1, 2022

Please welcome us in welcoming Jenna as an Assistant Professor, Psychology, for the Faculty of Arts!

Dr. Jenna Congdon is thrilled to be joining CUE as a new Assistant Professor as she finds herself most passionate about Psychology, animals, and her students. Dr. Congdon holds a Bachelor of Science from Algoma University, and Masters and PhD degrees (Psychology) from the University of Alberta. Considering that Psychology is the “scientific study of the mind and behaviour”, she represents the area of Comparative Cognition studying non-human animal cognition. During graduate school, Jenna primarily studied songbird perception and communication, and conducted research focused on desert ant navigation. Recently, she returned to Alberta from Ontario where she was working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Toronto Zoo training artificial intelligence to monitor zoo animals and designing experiments to investigate orangutan perception.

During the week, Jenna can be found enthusiastically talking about science in the lecture hall, writing manuscripts in the office, or outside watching different species of animals (both for research and personal gain!). On the weekends, she spends time with her favourite people, most often in the mountains snowboarding, snowshoeing, kayaking, and more – practicing a good work/life balance.
