Two weeks left! Student Research Grants Competition – Apply by March 1, 2021Posted on: Feb 15, 2022
Applications are now being accepted for the Student Research Grants Winter 2022 competition.
The deadline for applications is March 1, 2021 at 11:59 p.m.
There will be no extensions to the deadline.
- Undergraduate students are eligible to apply for up to $1,500 per year.
- Graduate students are eligible to apply for up to $2,000 per year.
Completed forms must be submitted electronically as a single PDF file to email@example.com.
To create a single PDF file:
- Fill out the application form (below) and collect all signatures.
- Collect all required attachments and convert them to PDF format.
- “Print” the signed application form as a PDF document. (The application form is password-protected, and will not allow merging into a single document.)
- Combine all of the documents into a single PDF in the order listed in the application form checklist, making sure that the application form is included as the first document.
Non-compliant applications will be removed from the competition.
Faculty sponsors are strongly encouraged to assist student applicants, and to review application materials before these documents are submitted to the Office of Research Services (ORS).
Prior to adjudication, the ORS will review application budgets to confirm eligibility of expenses.
Student research grants support direct costs for research activities, including research publication fees, expenditures related to research projects, registration fees for conferences, or similar activities approved by the Research and Faculty Development Committee (RFDC).
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, activities that include research travel may be allowed on a limited basis. Students interested in applying for travel-related research funding are strongly encouraged to contact the Office of Research Services (firstname.lastname@example.org) in advance of submitting an application to discuss restrictions and exemption application processes.
A Note on the Use of Technical Language
Internal grant applications are adjudicated by the Research and Faculty Development Committee (RFDC).
The RFDC is a multidisciplinary committee with elected representatives from all Faculties at Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE). RFDC members are highly educated scholars, but they are not expected to be experts in all fields.
To ensure that applications are appropriate for adjudication by this committee, applicants should avoid using discipline-specific jargon and other highly technical language in their proposals. If the RFDC determines that an application is not comprehensible to a non-expert, the application may be removed from the competition.
