Thunder Men’s Volleyball Post ‘Historic’ First Victory
Posted on: Oct 17, 2016In a first for the Thunder Men's Volleyball program, the team won their first match of the regular season in straight sets! The Thunder started on a high note, taking their first set of the year by a 25-22 margin in front of a raucous home crowd on Friday night. They followed up that achievement with even more impressive 2nd and 3rd sets, scoring 25-18 and 25-16 victories. "The guys showed the progress we have made and that we are going to be a tough team to get through," stated Head Coach Luc Jacobson. Injuries and illness made Saturday night's match in Lloydminster a tough one and the guys inevitably lost the match in 4 sets (25-23, 19-25, 21-25 and 21-25). "Although the performance was not what it was on Friday, there were still positives to be taken from our Saturday match. We weren't at our best and still competed for the entire match against a talented Lakeland team." Marc Langevin took Player of the Game Friday and veteran Connor Reeves, the same honour on Saturday night.
The Thunder will face another challenging opponent in Week 2 when they go up against the NAIT Ooks. The home game goes Saturday night at ~ 8PM.
