Thunder Men’s Volleyball in Tough Against the NAIT Ooks
Posted on: Feb 16, 2016The Concordia Men's Volleyball team had a tough weekend against the playoff-bound NAIT Ooks. The weekend match up started on Friday evening at NAIT where Thunder managed just a single set victory in a 3-1 losing effort (25-17,16-25, 25-11 and 25-9). "We didn't have our best Friday night at NAIT," lamented Head Coach Lucas Jacobson. "The guys struggled for the majority of the match with the exception of a great second set."
Back home at the Ralph King on Saturday night saw the Thunder put up a much better fight, pushing the Ooks to a five set, two hour marathon. "(This) was a much better played match. The guys played good enough to win but some tough calls and untimely errors ultimately cost us the match," stated Jacobson. The Thunder came within 3 points of the match victory against a team that is just 6 points out of first place in the Ooks. Set scores on Saturday were 25-11, 25-27, 25-21, 20-25 and 15-12.
The Thunder will wrap up the 2015-16 season with a home double header this coming weekend. "We are going to prepare as best we can in a short week for our final two matches this weekend against Grand Prairie to send our fifth year setter (team Captain Alex Ingstrup) out with a couple wins." Matches go on Friday night at 8 PM and Saturday afternoon at 3.
