The Shaughn O’Brien Mental Health Fund was created in 2016 to honour the life of a beloved Concordia student, Shaughn O’Brien. In the aftermath of his death, Shaughn’s family and friends decided to reach out and help other students who were also suffering. A number of Shaughn’s friends and classmates reported that he took the time to reach out to them when he sensed they were suffering or in the midst of a difficult time. A bench was installed at the front of the campus to honour Shaughn’s life, and to create a safe space for Concordia community members to take a moment and think or talk about their mental health. It is a constant reminder to break the silence and remove the mask.
Please join us for the President’s Fundraising Breakfast for Mental Health and help us support our students. RSVP by May 7.
