Talk Description: Empowering Cybersecurity Futures: Unlocking Potential through Local Professional Organization Memberships

The journey to launching a successful cybersecurity career requires crucial steps, including networking with like-minded peers and established professionals. Professionals organizations such as local Chapters and Affiliates in Alberta offer students the ideal platform for expanding their classroom knowledge. Through meetings with local leaders, tapping into their expertise, and listening to their experiences, students gain invaluable insights. These organizations facilitate access to potential job opportunities and keep them updated on current job trends and industry developments. By providing resources to connect with professionals and gain practical knowledge, they empower students to make informed decisions and excel in the field of cybersecurity.

About the Speaker: Hyma Pandyaram

Hyma is a CISSP-certified Senior Manager in Cyber Security at TechDemocracy, Canada. As a board member of (ISC)2 Alberta Chapter and Vice President at WiCyS Western Canada Affiliate, she champions CyberSafety, educating seniors, children, and businesses about secure internet practices. Her dedication to WiCyS empowers women in cybersecurity, making a lasting impact on the industry’s diversity and inclusivity. Hyma actively organizes events that unite students and professionals in Cybersecurity through the various professional organizations she is associated with.

Her passion lies in delivering identity management solutions to clients across industries in Canada and the US.  Hyma holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and was honored with the (ISC)2 Global Achievement Award in 2020 for promoting CyberSafety in Canada.
