Northern Road Trip Yields No Points for Women’s Volleyball

Posted on: Jan 13, 2014

The Thunder Women's Volleyball team set out Friday to Grande Prairie for a pair of matches against the Wolves. Throughout the first set, the Thunder went point-for-point with the Wolves and it looked as if could be anyone's game. Unfortunately, the Wolves spotted a weakness in the Thunder's system and pushed past the logjam, eventually taking the match 3-0 (25-16, 25-10 and 25-13).  On Saturday, "we regrouped and made sure our system was in place," commented Head Coach Sherri Milne. After losing in the first two close sets, the Thunder then won the third set, extending the match to a fourth set.  "As hard as we fought, the Wolves were just too strong," lamented Milne. The final 3-1 set scores were 25-15, 25-22, 19-25 and 25-15. This coming weekend, the Thunder will host a two game home stand when the welcome the Lethbridge Kodiaks to the Ralph King Athletic Centre.  Friday night's match begins at 6 PM with Saturday's matinee matchup begins at 1 PM.
