Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) is pleased to announce that effective August 12, Dr. Cameron Macdonell will be joining us as Interim Dean of Science.
Dr. Macdonell grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Manitoba before undertaking his graduate studies at the University of Alberta, where he completed his Ph.D. in 2011.
He joined the Department of Computer Science at MacEwan University that same year teaching a breadth of courses. His research focuses on computer science education, particularly in the area of open-source software development and its uses in the classroom. From 2017 to 2023, he served as Chair of the department. In 2021, he was honoured with MacEwan’s Distinguished Teaching Award for his outstanding teaching ability and commitment to education leadership.
