Indigenous Awards

The Government of Alberta is offering Indigenous Awards to encourage Indigenous Albertans (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) to pursue and complete post-secondary studies in certificate, diploma, applied degree and bachelor's degree programs that lead to high demand careers in Alberta.

Indigenous Careers Award 

Award Value:  $2,000 per semester / maximum of $4,000 in an academic year

Eligible Programs at Concordia:  Bachelor of Management, Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be Status Indian/First Nations, Non-Status Indian/First Nations, Métis or Inuit
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have protected person status under Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Be a resident of Alberta
  • Be enrolled in at least 60% of a full course load (40% of a full course load for a student with a permanent disability)
  • Demonstrate academic merit for their program

How to Apply:  Complete an Indigenous Careers Award Application and submit it along with all supporting documentation to the Student and Enrolment Services Office HA120.

Deadline to Apply:  February 16, 2016

Indigenous Graduate Award 

Award Value:  $7,500 minimum – $15,000 maximum

Eligible Programs at Concordia:  Master of Arts in Biblical and Christian Studies, Master of Information Systems Security Management and Master of Information Systems Assurance Management

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be Status Indian/First Nations, Non-Status Indian/First Nations, Métis or Inuit
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have protected person status under Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Be a resident of Alberta
  • Be enrolled in at least 60% of a full course load (40% of a full course load for a student with a permanent disability)
  • Deomnstrate academic merit for their program

How to Apply:  Complete an Indigenous Graduate Award Application and submit it along with all supporting documentation to the Student and Enrolment Services Office HA120.
