Important Information Regarding Your First January 2021 Pay
Posted on: Nov 16, 2020
For all salaried employees, the first pay of the new year on January 15 will be slightly smaller than the remaining pay periods going forward.
With the new bi-weekly pay schedule starting 2021, all pay periods will be calculated as 10 business days each period. However, the first period in January will be for the equivalent of 6 business days, not 10.
This difference is due to the fact that the final pay period in December is being paid up to December 31, 2020 for work up to and including December 31, but cut off periods in the new pay structure are changing to have cut off dates one week prior to the payday. Therefore, the first pay period will be for January 1 – January 8, deposited on January 15.
This does not affect your total annual salary amount; you will still receive your full annual salary in the year.
