Huskies Sweep Women’s VolleyballPosted on: Jan 25, 2016
Motivated by their push for a playoff spot, the Keyano College Huskies swept the Thunder over the two-game road trip weekend. On Friday, the Thunder came out flat in the first set and lost 25-11. In the next two sets they played some good side-out ball until the end of each set where unforced errors cost them, losing 22-25 and 23-25. Shandelle Meyer was the Player of the Match for the Thunder.
In Saturday afternoon's match the team played with some urgency and composure in the first set winning 25-21. Unfortunately, the remaining three sets saw old habits creep back in and the Huskies won handily 15-25, 16-25 and 18-25. After the weekend's trip, Coach Turner lamented that "we continue to make too many unforced errors and the other team outworks us in key situations in each set. To get to the next level that we strive for, those errors and being outworked cannot happen."
The Thunder's tough schedule continues this weekend as they will face the ACAC's top team in the 17-1 King's University Eagles. The home match goes Friday night at 6 PM at the Ralph King Athletic Centre.
