Faculty of Science Welcomes Dr. Emmanuel Mapfumo
Posted on: Jul 3, 2019We are pleased to welcome Dr. Emmanuel Mapfumo to the Faculty of Science and the Department of Biology and Environmental Science as an Associate Professor of Environmental Science, beginning July 1, 2019.
Dr. Mapfumo earned his PhD in Soil Science from the University of Alberta, Canada. He brings to the position a strong background in teaching, research and environmental consulting (Soil Science, Hydrology, Contaminant Remediation and Statistics). For his teaching, Dr. Mapfumo received three teaching excellence awards at the University of Alberta for courses taught in the Environmental and Conservation Sciences (ENCS) program.
With respect to his research, Dr. Mapfumo has collaborated with partners from industry, academic institutions, and provincial and federal governments. He has co-authored 35 refereed journal publications and numerous reports. He is also a practicing member of the Alberta Institute of Agrologists, is a designated Professional Agrologist (P.Ag) and was a member of the Panel of Experts Committee that developed the Environmental Monitoring Standard. Dr. Mapfumo looks forward to developing a research program on hydrologic impacts of utilization of reclamation/remediation materials new initiatives in the Environmental Sciences program.
