Men’s Soccer Rank 2nd – Looking for Gold
Posted on: Oct 23, 2012The Concordia Thunder Men’s Soccer team went into their match ups this past weekend, knowing a play-off spot in the ACAC Championships was hanging in the balance.
On Saturday the Thunder took to the pitch at NAIT. Up 1-Nil at half time, the Ooks had the Thunder scrambling to get back into contention. After half-time, the Thunder responded with more determination and purpose than they could muster in the first half and scored three quick goals to lead NAIT 3-1. NAIT scored again late in the game but the Thunder held on and took the contest 3-2.
On Sunday, the Thunder returned home to face the squad from Keyano College. An intense, rough and tumble 2nd half resulted a 2-2 draw. The victory and tie gave the Thunder the second seed in the ACAC North division.
Next weekend’s ACAC Championships will be hosted by Red Deer College and will kick off with the Thunder facing the South Division’s 3rd seeded Lakeland Rustlers in the quarter-finals on Friday, October 26, at Noon.
Good luck and GO THUNDER!
