New Partnership in Japan

Concordia's Faculty of Science and the International Office are pleased to announce its partnership with Tohoku University's Graduate School of Medicine located in Sendai, Japan. The general MOU was signed in February 2016, following conversations begun between the universities in May 2015.
Concordia is proud to partner with Tohoku University, which was founded in 1907 as Japan's third national university.
Located on the ancient site of Aoba Castle in Sendai, Tohoku University, an Imperial University, is ranked among Japan's leading universities. It ranked #4 in 2015 as one of the Best Global Universities in Japan, according to U.S. News and World Report. It is a recipient of Super Global Universities funding by the Japanese government, which aims to prepare more graduates of the country's academic institutions for positions of global leadership.
Areas of cooperation will focus on research collaborations between faculty in Public Health at both institutions. The Embassy of Canada in Japan has created a special scholarship for students based in Tohoku region affected by the 3.11 earthquake and tsunami to pursue one month of language training in Canada. By enabling young people in the affected areas to study in Canada, this program aims to nurture globally minded citizens who will lead in the rebuilding of their communities and give hope and courage to Japan as it continues to play a leading role in the world.
