Posted on: Jul 5, 2022Sobia Ikram has a post graduate degree in Life and Environmental Sciences from Paris Tech, France, and master’s degree in Public Health from University of Alberta with 15 years of academic and industrial experience. In academics, She worked as researcher and faculty member for different institutes in France, Canada, and Pakistan. Her responsibilities include teaching and supervising graduate students in research, coordinated department program committees, establishing labs, organizing conferences and seminars. Later, she worked as a subject matter expert in industry in the field of public health, safety, and environment management and developed expertise in program development, risk assessment, regulatory affairs, and ensuring resources are utilized in the best possible manner. She was engaged in different industrial projects and acted as a liaison for university-industry collaboration to expedite resources to work on minimizing industrial health risks and environmental impact. Being in the industry helped her to understand the health and environment issues differently than academic professionals and she would like to use this experience in teaching students and get engaged in research activities to solve industry problems.
Being in Alberta, She likes hiking in mountain trails, camping, and biking in summer. She plays badminton and enjoys spending time outside with family.
