Thunder Men’s Soccer Fall to Lethbridge in ACAC Playoff

Posted on: Oct 28, 2013

On Friday, October 25th the Thunder Men's Soccer team took to the field at Jasper Place Bowl to take on the Lethbridge College Kodiaks in ACAC Championship play. The Kodiaks opened the scoring at the 18 minute mark. Lethbridge went on to add two more goals before Concordia was able to answer on a counter from Joseph Miah. At halftime, the score was 3-1 in favour of Lethbridge. In the second half the boys started strongly in an attempt to get back into the game. Unfortunately, it was once again the visiting team that tallied another on the score board. Things went from bad to worse when the Thunder's top scorer and ACAC All Conference team member Pristen Fayia was sent off for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The game ended 4-1 in favour of the Kodiaks and the defeat eliminated the Thunder from further playoff contention. Joseph Miah was chosen as the Player of the Game.  "Joseph has been one of the most consistent and most improved players for the Thunder," commented interim Head Coach Lionel Nji. "He scored a total of 7 goals and was chosen as Player for the Game 6 consecutive times."  Summing up the season, Coach Nji stated, "It has been a season full of challenges but credit to the boys for making it to the playoff. The team is young and it is hoped that next year will be a better year. The coaches would like to thank the boys for their dedication and for honourably representing Concordia. The coaches wish them all the best in their studies."
