Save the date! CUE will host URSCA 2021 on May 3-4 (online)

Posted on: Jan 15, 2021

Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) is proud to host the 2021 Undergraduate Research in Science Conference of Alberta. This is an annual event where undergraduate students across our province showcase the exciting results of their research activities. In 2021, CUE celebrates the 100th anniversary, and we are excited that URSCA 2021 is part of our celebration.

The event is scheduled for May 3-4, 2021. A call for abstracts and registration information will be released soon. Due to COVID-19, the event will be hosted entirely online.

As you know, we are going through a pandemic that has severely affected our lives and the research activities of our students. Still, we have seen them thrive under these conditions and succeed, which highlights their commitment to science. For this reason, the theme for 2021 will be “Undergraduate Research under Extraordinary Circumstances”.

We have confirmed a great keynote speaker for this event: Dr. Alejandro Adem, President of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC). Make sure to join us for what will be a great presentation!

Sincerely,

URSCA 2021 Organization Committee

Brief History of URSCA

URSCA is an annual celebration of the successes in research by Undergraduate Students across our province. First hosted by MacEwan University under the Theme “Exploring Undergraduate Science Research”, this annual event has served as a platform for several universities and colleges across the province to showcase the research that takes place at their institutions. The event has been successfully hosted in the past by the University of Lethbridge, the University of Calgary and The King’s University. For 2020, COVID-19 forced a shift of URSCA into an online event, brilliantly hosted by the University of Lethbridge.
