Dutch University talks research and exchange with CUE

Posted on: Mar 28, 2018

On Tuesday, March 20, Concordia University of Edmonton welcomed a delegation from Avans University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, with the intention of discussing international collaboration on student and faculty exchange programs and sustainability projects.

The Dutch university, considered the best University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands six times in a row, reached out to CUE having researched our website and being impressed by our innovative research agenda and international partnerships. Following their attendance at the GLOBE Sustainability Conference in Vancouver, they visited Edmonton specifically to meet with us.

During the meeting, discussions focused on each university’s goals and values, and potential opportunities in which our two institutions can begin a collaboration. Avans University, like CUE, has a teaching pedagogy that is very student-centred and the general consensus appeared to favour student exchanges as a good starting point to this relationship. We are pleased to announce that a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed next month.

We were honoured to host Edwin Verlangen, Head of the School of Economics and Business Management and Chairman of the Expertise Center for Sustainable Business, René Theunis, vice-dean of the School of Economics and Business Management, Nies Rijnders, Managing Director of the Expertise Center for Sustainable Business and Rick Bastiaanssen, Network and Relations Manager at Avans University.
