Thunder Women’s Volleyball Compete in Annual Wild Rose Classic

Posted on: Oct 7, 2013

This past weekend the Thunder Women's Volleyball team ventured south to compete in the Wild Rose Classic hosted by Red Deer College. The Thunder played 4 matches in all over the weekend and as expected this early in the season, there were many ups and downs as 2nd year Head Coach Sherri Milne continues to mold her rookie-laden squad.  Second year veteran Dayna Starke was having a very strong weekend but unfortunately went down due to ankle injury. "As we saw the lows of the weekend there were highs that allowed us to defeat two ACAC teams," said Coach Milne. "Our hard work payed off winning against Keyano 25-22, 18-25 and 15-10 and then Lethbridge 29-27 and 25-22. The wins were due to hard work and effort of the entire team. The women leaned on each other, picked each other up. That helped (us) strive for the wins.  We are looking forward to our season with the understanding that each point we get needs to be earned through hard work," concluded Milne.
The Thunder open up the ACAC regular season on October 25th when they play host to the Lakeland Rustlers.
