Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) celebrated 100 years as a community of scholars gathering in Edmonton and growing into the world. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for Homecoming 2021 from September 3-5, 2021.
It was a weekend of fun-filled, family-friendly celebration, with alumni, faculty, students, staff, their families and community joining us for some or all of the events. A photo gallery will be posted soon.
Campus exhibitions remain on display and CUE merchandise is still available for sale at the CUE Bookstore.
Opening of the McNeil Centre for Applied Renewable Energy
2:00pm – at the BMO Centre for Innovation and Applied Research, Allan Wachowich Centre
A multi-disciplinary centre, the McNeil Centre for Applied Renewable Energy collaborates, communicates, and advances the adoption of renewable energy technologies across the province and country. We are grateful to all who joined us and CUE alumnus Cam McNeil, for whom the Centre is named, for the ceremonial opening as we kicked-off our 100th anniversary celebrations!

Our opening ceremony officially began our Homecoming Celebration and set the stage for a weekend of family fun! The opening ceremony began with a recognition of the land on which we gather, and included special speakers and entertainment.

We were thrilled to be launching a book capturing the past 100 years as a community of scholars gathering in Edmonton and growing into the world. The book launch included short readings from Dr. Neil Querengesser and was followed by a reception.

High Level Bridge
We were honoured to have the High Level Bridge lit up with CUE colours to celebrate our ‘Century of Promise’.

A pancake breakfast was organized by our Concordia Students’ Association (CSA) and Graduate Students’ Association (GSA). Thanks to Edmonton Elks alumni for joining us and flipping pancakes!

We cheered on the Thunder soccer teams as they took on The Kings’ University in exhibition games.

You connected with old friends, reminisced about your time at CUE, viewed yearbooks and photos, and took a tour around campus. We are proud to have hosted class and program reunions, as well as reunions for athletics, music, drama, high school, and the University & College Entrance Program (UCEP).

To top it all off… we had fireworks! It was a show of the century as we lit up the sky and demonstrated how proud we are to be 100 years old.

There’s nothing quite like a run (or walk) through Edmonton’s historic river valley. The course began and ended at the Ralph King Athletic Centre and proceeds from the event will be used to create scholarships for students.

A BBQ lunch was enjoyed by all after a morning filled with exercise.

Friends and family alike followed the clues to discover various points of interest around campus. Participants received a scavenger hunt card to record their discoveries and then submitted their cards into a draw for CUE 100 swag items.

The weekend passed by so quickly and ended our celebrations with the alumni choir performance, a lion dance, and more!
