Thank you for your interest in Concordia University of Edmonton’s Residence. We are proud of our program and are always excited at the prospect of adding new members to our community. In order to maintain the integrity of our program, we carefully screen all applicants. All the information you need to apply for a residence space is available on this site. It is also highly recommended that you read the Spring and Summer Residence Life Policies and Procedures.
Please be aware that only a small number of residence spaces are available during the spring and summer months and they are given out on a first-come-first-served basis.
STEP 1: Submit Spring/Summer Residence Request
Residence spaces are rented out on a monthly basis. Female students are typically housed in Wangerin House, and although the majority of the rooms are double occupancy, they are rented as single rooms in the spring/summer sessions. Wangerin has a common living area, 3.5 bathrooms, and a small kitchenette (includes stove, microwave, and oven). Shared rooms may be available dependent upon interest.
Male students are housed in Founders Hall, and although the rooms are double-occupancy, they are rented as single rooms in the spring/summer sessions. Founders has a common lounge area equipped with television, cable tv and dvd player, convenience kitchen (includes oven, stove, fridge and microwave), and shared washroom facilities. Shared rooms may be available dependent upon interest.
If you are interested in booking a stay in the residence between May 1st, 2017 and August 11th, 2017, please fill out the Spring/Summer Residence Request Form.
Once we have received the request, we will contact you to confirm whether space is available during the requested dates and to review the details of your reservation.
IMPORTANT: Spring and Summer residence spaces are only available to students that are 18 years of age or older.
STEP 2: Conditional Acceptance
If space is available you will be required to pay a Security Deposit and sign and return a Residence Contract.
STEP 2(a): Security Deposit
A Security Deposit of $500 must be paid upon conditional acceptance to residence.
This fee is only refundable if the student remains in residence for their full contract term and is not responsible for any damages in the residence. This fee is also subject to the policies regarding Early Withdrawal and Cancellations outlined below.
Note: Students who already have a security deposit on account will not need to pay an additional security deposit.
STEP 2(b): Sign and return Residence Spring & Summer Lease Agreement
Once you have received conditional acceptance into residence you will be required to pay the security deposit and sign and return the Spring & Summer Residence Lease Agreement by the stated deadline date.
Once we have received your Security Deposit and signed agreement, you will be granted Final Acceptance into Concordia’s Spring/Summer Residence. Once you have received final acceptance, residence fees are paid in accordance with your lease agreement.
STEP 3: Payment of Fees
Once you have received final acceptance into Concordia University of Edmonton’s Residence Program, you will be required to pay residence fees as they are due. Due dates and amounts are specifically stated on the signed lease agreement and payment is expected by those dates. Students are not permitted to move into residence until the stated residence fees are paid.
Spring and Summer Residence Fees
Most spring and summer accommodations are granted in the form of single rooms. If you wish to share a room, please let us know at the time booking. Shared rooms will only be granted dependent on demand.
Fees for Spring/Summer Residence: $675.00/month, due on the 1st of every month for the duration of the contract.
Early Withdrawals and Cancellations
The Residence Contract for the spring and summer months are in effect based upon the dates indicated on one’s Spring/Summer Residence Contract. If a student plans to move out of residence before the date specified on his/her contract, he/she will forfeit a minimum of $300 of their security deposit. Advanced notification must be received based on the information outlined in their Spring/Summer Residence Lease Agreement. Refunds of deposits are assessed from the date you hand in your keys and officially checkout. If you plan to check-out before the date indicated in your contract, you must notify the Residence Director in advance in accordance with your Spring/Summer Residence Contract. Notification of your check-out time must be received within 24 hours of your plans to vacate the residence. If you fail to do so, you will be assessed a charge to your security deposit.
Cancellations in advance of move-in are subject to the following policies:
- If you are not admitted into an academic program at Concordia University of Edmonton or another university, you will be refunded the full deposit provided you submit written notice and a copy of your letter of non-acceptance to Concordia University of Edmonton Residence via email, registered mail, fax, or in person.
- If you must cancel your residence application due to medical reasons, you will be refunded the full deposit provided you submit written notice with proof of medical reason to Concordia University of Edmonton Residence via email, registered mail, fax, or in person.
- All refund claims must be received within the timeline given on the Spring/Summer Lease Agreement. No refunds will be issued for claims received after that date.
