Bridge to English for Academic Purposes

This course enables students whose first language is other than English to develop English language grammar required to proceed to EAP 101.

Note: Only open to students in the English for Academic Purposes program.

English for Academic Purposes

This course enables students whose first language is other than English to develop English language grammar required to succeed in post-secondary education. Students will become proficient in the use of advanced grammar, verb tenses, modifiers and sentence structures.

English for Academic Purposes

This course enables students whose first language is other than English to develop the English language writing skills required to succeed in post-secondary education. Students will learn to write clearly and effectively to meet the standards expected for post-secondary essay, research and report writing.

English for Academic Purposes

This course enables students whose first language is other than English to develop English language reading skills required to succeed in post-secondary education. The course will introduce shorter pieces of literature, stories and modern essays. Students will study a novel written in a Canadian context. Specific reading comprehension exercises will be completed on a regular basis.

English for Academic Purposes

This course enables students whose first language is other than English to develop English language listening and speaking skills required to succeed in post-secondary education. Students will become proficient in listening critically to the Instructor, classmates, and guests. Students will learn to take notes in class, some viewing and interpreting of visual material are included in the course. Students will develop English language verbal skills through in class group work and presentation skills. Students will be able to communicate effectively on practical, social and academic topics.

The Accredited CELPIP Preparation Course has been developed by CELPIP experts to assist test takers to maximize their performance on test day. The program focuses on language skills and test-taking strategies that will help test takers demonstrate their true level of English language proficiency on the CELPIP General Test or the CELPIP General-LS Test. X-CPP 01 focuses on strengthening the reading comprehension skills of learners, in alignment with the requirements of the CELPIP test.

X-CHN 01 - Chinese HSK Level 1 - 0 (0-1.5L-0-0)

An entry-level course designed to give students a good command of spoken and written Chinese and an introduction to Chinese culture and civilization. Students will learn 150 characters and 150 vocabulary words.

X-CHN 02 - Chinese HSK Level 2 - 0 (0-1.5L-0-0)

As a sequel course to X-CHN 01, this course is designed to give students further intensive training in spoken and written Chinese. It promotes a greater understanding of Chinese culture and civilization. Students will learn 300 characters and 300 vocabulary words.

X-CHN 03 - Chinese HSK Level 3 - 0 (0-2L-0-0)

As a sequel course to X-CHN 02, this course is designed to give students further intensive training in spoken and written Chinese. It promotes a greater understanding of Chinese culture and civilization. Students will learn 600 characters and 600 vocabulary words.

X-ISS 11 - Fundamentals of Cybersecurity - 0 (0-0-0-0)

Fundamentals of Cybersecurity provides learners with no previous cybersecurity knowledge with an overview of the field and an understanding of strategies to break into this growing IT specialization of cybersecurity. It also provides learners with some prior IT/computer science training, but who are not currently working in the field, with core cybersecurity skills that will enable them to rejoin the IT field.
