On behalf of the CARIC 2023 Organizing Committee, the Office of Research, invites all faculty, staff and students to submit an abstract for a talk or poster presentation at the CUE Annual Research & Innovation Conference (CARIC) 2023.
Who can submit an abstract? All CUE students, staff and faculty conducting research and scholastic activities are invited to participate! Please note: this event merges the Student Research Forum and Faculty Research Forum.
Abstract Submission Deadline: Monday, April 10th, 2023 @ 11:59 pm
Notification Date: Wednesday, April 12th, 2023
Acceptance and Confirmation Deadline: Thursday, April 13, 2023
Poster Printing: Posters for CARIC 2023 will be printed by the Office of Research at no cost. Posters need to be submitted for printing by Saturday, April 15 @ 11:59 pm (no exceptions); otherwise, you are responsible for printing your own poster. Poster template (4 ft wide x 3 ft tall). Guidelines
- Abstracts must be submitted electronically using the online abstract submission portal;
- An individual may submit more than one (1) abstract;
- If submitting more than one abstract, each abstract must be submitted separately;
- Abstracts must describe original, previously unpublished work;
- Once submitted, edits cannot be made to the abstract;
- Scheduling of oral and poster sessions is at the discretion of the CARIC 2023 Organizing Committee (Note: Graduate students in the Faculty of Education & Management will have sessions on the evening of April 20th)
- Abstracts will be organized into sessions using the faculty chosen by the abstract submitter
Dissemination Options
During the online abstract submission, authors will be requested to select their method of presentation as part of a requirement (i.e.: course component, funding obligation, etc). Preferred presentation method preferences will also be considered during the review process.
Sessions
For each abstract submitted, the author will be asked to indicate which faculty (academic area) they belong to, as sessions are determined based on their respective faculty:
- Arts
- Education
- Management
- Science
Abstract Formatting Guidelines
Please adhere to the following formatting guidelines when submitting your abstract for the conference. Abstracts that are not correctly formatted will not be reviewed and published as submitted.
Please submit your abstract of no more than 500 words and include the following:
- Title (but do not capitalize all the letters)
- Author(s) and affiliated institution(s)
- Background
- Purpose / Aim / Hypothesis
- Method(s)
- Result(s) – or anticipated results
- Conclusion(s)
- Please do not use abbreviations or acronyms in the abstract
NOTE: Errors, misspellings, and incorrect abbreviations will not be corrected
Notification of Acceptance
Presenting authors (whether oral or poster deliveries) will be notified of their acceptance status on April 12th, 2023. Presenting authors must inform any co-author(s) of acceptance. The organizing committee reserves the right to accept or decline any submissions and to select the presentation format (oral or poster). Authors must confirm their acceptance and attendance by April 13th, 2023.

The CARIC 2023 Organizing Committee will not be held responsible for abstract submissions not received via the submission portal nor for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events.
