COVID-19 CUE Library Service Updates

Maintaining the safety of CUE students, instructors and staff while providing excellent library services, collections and spaces is our highest priority at CUE Library.

VIRTUAL LIBRARY SERVICES

Library staff are here to answer your questions. Our chat, text messaging, and email service provide you with expert help without the need for you to come to the library in person.

  • Monday – Friday: 8:30 am –  8:30 pm
  • Saturday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Sunday: 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm

IN-PERSON LIBRARY SERVICES 

Need help in person? Library staff are here to help with research or citations. We can also answer any questions you may have about our services, collections, and spaces.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN VISITING

  • Plexiglass barriers are installed at all service points
  • Co-browsing monitors are set up at all service points
  • Floor markers are added to ensure distancing at service waiting areas
  • Books and other library items are isolated before they are returned to our shelves
  • Directional signage and barriers are set up to establish proper distancing
  • Disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer are available at the Library Service Desk
  • Study spots are physically distanced – our basement, 3rd floor, and bookable study rooms remain closed

VISITING CUE LIBRARY SAFELY

If you choose to visit the library, please make sure to:

  • Not come to campus if you are feeling ill
  • Keep 2 metres apart from others
  • Wear a mask at all times – it is mandatory
  • Wash/sanitize your hands regularly
  • Follow all directional signage

Please note that that a face shield is not a substitute for a mask.

LIBRARY STUDY SPACE

To protect the health and safety of students, study space in the CUE Library building is limited.

  • Our basement, 3rd floor, and bookable study rooms are closed at this time
  • Please study alone in the library – no groupwork is permitted
  • All library study spots have been physically distanced
  • Securing a study spot is not guaranteed
  • Please wipe down your study spot before using it – disinfectant wipes are provided
  • Always wear a mask while studying

IT HELPDESK & DROP-IN COMPUTERS

IT Helpdesk services will be provided during CUE Library building hours.

  • Computers stations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis
  • All computer stations have been physically distanced
  • Securing a computer station is not guaranteed
  • Please wipe down your computer station before using it – disinfectant wipes are provided

PHYSICAL COLLECTION ACCESS

We encourage all users to:

REQUESTING & PICKING UP LIBRARY BOOKS (PLACING HOLDS)

  • Holds will be filled for CUE instructors, students, and staff.
  • CUE instructors, students and staff can place holds on CUE Library & NEOS Library items
  • Many NEOS libraries are restricting building access to their own students and staff
    • You must choose CUE Library as your pickup location
    • Only CUE instructors, students, and staff can pick up items at CUE Library

RETURNING LIBRARY ITEMS

  • Please return items using our book return box, which is located just outside the library’s main doors
  • To protect the health and safety of borrowers and staff, returned items are isolated for 72 hours before they are checked in and re-shelved
  • Items that were checked out prior 2020 winter semester closure are not due until September 30, 2020.

OTHER BOOK RETURN BIN LOCATIONS

  • MacEwan University, 2 exterior book drops:
    • 105th Avenue and 107th Street – close to building entrance; easiest to find
    • 105th Avenue and 105th Street – easy access if walking from MacEwan LRT stop to MacEwan Building 5
  • The King’s University
    • King’s has a book drop open to the public in the foyer of the Main Entrance.
  • Newman Theological College
    • Newman’s book drop is next to the library entrance, which is within the college building.
    • Access is limited to building hours.

LIBRARY RESERVES & CHARGERS

The access to the library’s physical reserves collection will be limited for the fall 2020 term.

  • Reserves items will be isolated for 72 hours after they are returned to the Library. No new items will be added.
  • Reserves equipment, including chargers and cables, will not be available for the fall 2020 term.
