Inspiration for Teachers

Inspiration for Teachers

Are you a music educator or conductor working with children and youth? Inspiration for Teachers is a week-long immersive professional development program for music educators and conductors. Featuring sessions with master teachers and conductors, this week will inspire you in your musical teaching!

Inspiration for Teachers offers:

Daily rehearsal observations of Singspiration’s Youth Choir and Junior Choir.

Watch the conductors throughout the week as they teach new concepts, give the choristers positive experience and prepare for a successful performance. Inspiration for Teachers also provides master sessions with both conductors, and additional opportunities to talk to them about their techniques and strategies. As a bonus, you can attend the dress rehearsal and concert on the Saturday of Singspiration at no extra cost!

And as part of your Inspiration registration, you can join the evening Adult Summer Choir (no extra cost for full-week registrants).

We also offer:

  • Two sessions per day with master teachers, clinicians, and conductors. Learn from some of Alberta’s leading music educators each and every day of the week! Work on your conducting skills; hone your elementary music techniques, and get introduced to new repertoire for your students. Last year’s program featured Monica Dear demonstrating the ukulele as a teaching tool, and other sessions focusing on the Alexander Technique, handbells in the music classroom, a cappella pop music, vocal health, arranging, aboriginal music, and trends in Alberta music education.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate you. Attend for a day, a half-week, or the entire week. Inspiration for Teachers is scheduled Monday to Friday from 9 to 5, with the optional addition of attending the Saturday rehearsal and concert of the Singspiration Youth and Junior choirs.
  • Opportunity to receive academic credit for your participation. For an additional fee, you can earn 1.5 undergraduate credits, which may count towards a TQS increase. Participants who enroll to receive credit will be guided by an instructor and must attend for the full week, completing assignments to be handed in the week following the program.
  • Opportunities to network with colleagues through facilitated group discussions as well as during breaks.

The flexibility to accommodate your summer schedule and lots of added benefits make this week an extraordinary professional development experience at excellent value.
