2019 Concordia Symphony Concerto Competition for Youth

Concordia Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and the School of Music of Concordia University of Edmonton are proud to present the 2019 Concordia Symphony Concerto Competition for Youth.  This competition will offer young Albertan virtuosi the rare opportunity to perform as soloists with a full symphony orchestra.

Competition Highlights:

  • The competition will be held annually as part of the orchestra’s four-concert season;
  • Each year, the competition will accept applications for a selected instrument, voice or instrument family to allow diverse access to the orchestra;
  • The 2019 CSO Concerto Competition will be for Piano;
  • The competition will be open to Alberta residents, 25 years old or younger, who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents;
  • The main prize will consist of an opportunity to present a solo work with the CSO on March 1, 2020 as part of the CSO’s 2019-20 season and a cash prize of $1,000.00.

CSO Competition for Youth: 2019 Award for Piano

First prize winner: $1,000.00

Outstanding Musicianship award (junior category): $500.00

Outstanding Musicianship award (senior category): $300.00

Registration opens September 18, 2019
