Sessional Instructor, Public Health

Concordia University of Edmonton’s Environmental Health (After Degree) Program is one of seven programs approved by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI). It provides students with the knowledge, skills and abilities required of an entry level environmental public health professional.

In order for students to become certified, they must satisfy the requirements of the CIPHI Board of Certification by passing the certification examination which is composed of an oral examination and a written component.

Responsibilities:

The Instructor’s role is to prepare students for the oral and written components of the CIPHI certification process. He or she will:

  • Assess students’ strengths and weaknesses in:
    • ​Responses to BOC-type scenarios;
    • Application of technical knowledge to BOC-type scenarios;
  • Provide effective strategies to support student success;
  • Liaise and discuss findings with Program management staff.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  •  CPHI(C) and be a regular member of CIPHI for a minimum of 5 years;
  • Knowledge and experience in the BOC examination process as an Examiner and/or Marker;
  • Strong leadership and teaching skills (especially knowledge translation skills);
  • Demonstrated knowledge, breadth and depth, in environmental public health;
  • Proven commitment to the Institute and a champion in professional development.

Duration: Sessions will be delivered on different dates, as required. Up to 24 hours during Winter 2017
