Buddy Program

BuddyProgram_Logo-300x236The Buddy Program matches you with current Concordia University of Edmonton students who have attended for a year or more. These buddies provide you with ongoing advice and information about life at Concordia University of Edmonton, and the community as a whole.

Throughout the academic year, international buddies offer social support, assistance, guidance and are invited to join in international-themed activities. They share their personal experiences with you and help ease the transition to life in Edmonton.

If you are new to Edmonton or the Canadian lifestyle, moving to Concordia University of Edmonton can be a daunting experience. The purpose of the Buddy Program is to pair new international students with current students who provide the friendly face, helping hand, and first Edmonton friendship, that can make a significant difference for new arrivals. Buddies can also offer linguistic support, cultural guidance and information about life at Concordia University of Edmonton.

How does the Buddy Program work?

New students coming to Edmonton from outside of Canada and current Concordia University of Edmonton students interested in participating sign up and are matched according to your program of study and mutual interests.

Buddies establish a contact by email prior to arriving in Edmonton and then meet in person once they are on campus. International buddies are invited to join in international-themed events throughout the year and to stay in touch.

Get in Touch

Please contact the International Office by emailing xinxin.fang@concordia.ab.ca to apply, or if you have any questions.

As the Buddy Program is a voluntary initiative, an application does not guarantee a placement. We will do our best to find you a buddy, but it will depend on our volunteers’ availability. Thank you for your understanding.
