Assistant Professor – English

The Department of Literature & Language at Concordia University of Edmonton invites applications for an Assistant Professor of English. Please note this position begins August 1, 2016, subject to budgetary approval.

The successful candidate must be a generalist who is qualified to teach twentieth-century British literature in a transatlantic context; preference will be given to those with additional expertise in Canadian literature. Normal teaching load is 4 courses per semester. In addition, the successful candidate must be willing and able to take on academic administrative duties and will be committed to building relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the broader community.

Requirements include:

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in English.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.
  • An ability to teach expository writing.
  • Strong technical/computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies.
  • Evidence of and the ability to maintain an effective and ongoing research program.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially as a team member.
