Academic Interests and Specializations

Research and publication interests include ancient Greek and Latin philology and literature, Greek and Roman eschatology and thanatology, gender and race in the ancient world and in the history of classical scholarship, and Hellenistic Egypt.

In addition to her work teaching and conducting research, Lisa has been fortunate enough to have had various opportunities to apply her training in other contexts. For example, she has worked on the archaeological excavation of a Mycenaean (Greek Bronze Age) citadel on the Greek island Paros, and acted as the Greek textual consultant to director Marti Maraden on her production of Euripides’ Trojan Women, which opened in the Spring 2008 at the Stratford Festival, Stratford, Ontario.

Along with her part time work as a sessional at Concordia University of Edmonton, Lisa has a half time continuing position in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Athabasca University, where she teaches online for the Masters of Integrated Studies Program. She has written and taught various courses for Athabasca University at both the undergraduate and graduate level, has supervised numerous graduate students on their final projects, and has performed PhD committee work.
